Description:

An intensive and rigorous short course for those keen to learn the basics of participatory video facilitation, including a community placement day where facilitation skills can be practiced and deepened.

The ʻIntroduction to Participatory Videoʼ course, now entering its 7th consecutive year, takes place in Oxford and is led by a highly experienced senior trainer. The training is suitable for development practitioners and activists who are seeking ways of strengthening the capacity of communities and groups to exercise greater impact on decision-making processes and undertake advocacy for social justice through participatory video.

Our trainings are designed around principles of experiential learning: employing a wide range of visual techniques that enhance creativity, sharing, reflection and learning. These include games and group exercises that trainees will have opportunities to experience, explore and then practice facilitating during short 1-day community placements organised with local groups.

Location: Oxford (UK)
